DSV to Hudl...WOW!

Dang!

Well folks, I decided to give the transition from DSV to Huddle a go this morning.  At 0900 I called em up.  I let Hudle know that we'd already paid for our 2011 DSV.  In no time flat, we were signed-up, walked through the online download (zero alterations to my computer security etc) and I had our Spring Ball uploaded.  The file was huge,  over 180 frames.  I went out and mowed the lawn, returned and was very gratified to see that everything was squared away upon my return an hour later.  In fact, the simplicity, ease and logical interface made this quite frankly, one of this young summer's surprise hi-lites.  Fantastically simple.  Video quality was superb and the editing a thing of beauty.  A gigantic leap forward! I feel like I just went from flying a biplane to zipping around in an F-16.  Even the most technically and time challenged BCSSFA coach is going to thrive with this!  Giddy-Up!  I just added hours of prep-time to my busy Fall weekends.

DSV Update

Coaches,

Hold the presses folks.  DSV has been sold and there are changes forthcoming.  The below communique was issued this AM.

I have done some preliminary research and this looks to be an improvement over what we have been using.

-If you're a current DSV customer, today is an exciting day. Earlier this morning, Digital Sports Video was acquired by Hudl.

Please take just a few minutes to read this email carefully and I'll try to explain why this is so exciting and what it means for everyone.

First of all, who is Hudl?

They're a smart young company based in Lincoln, Nebraska that builds sports video software for coaches like yourself. You can read all about their company here: http://www.hudl.com/about/.

How does this deal benefit me as a coach, athletic director, or recruiter?

If you've paid for DSV this year, you automatically get access to Hudl's world-class video tools and the amazing support team behind them. On top of that, by consolidating DSV and Hudl's customer bases, you'll see:
· More teams to exchange video with. Hudl's exchange system is blazing fast and very easy to use.

· A broader pool of athletes with video for recruiters. This is a win-win for everyone. More athletes means more video which in turn means more exposure to recruiters (and vice versa).

· Even better tools for you as a coach. We'll be incorporating feedback from both of our companies' experiences and all of our coaches to make Hudl even better.

Why did DSV decide to make this deal with Hudl? Aren't you competitors?

Let me be very clear: DSV would not have made this deal if we didn't believe Hudl could support our coaches and help them succeed.

Hudl is built from the ground up to work well online and with new mobile technologies like Apple's iOS and Google's Android platforms. That's where the sports video industry is headed.

Can I still keep using my installed DSV software?

Yes. We will continue to honor existing support contracts for DSV 7 and DSV 8. If you have not renewed your support contract, you can continue to use the software for as long as you want without support.

As a special bonus, any DSV team that purchases a Hudl subscription for 2011 will receive a free upgrade to DSV 8.

What about DSV Anywhere?

Unfortunately, that product will no longer be available. Teams who've purchased DSV Anywhere this year will have immediate access to Hudl. And don't worry, your video and data can be automatically transferred to Hudl.

I will be working as a consultant with Hudl for the next few months to ensure that DSV customers transition seamlessly to the new product.

What about Player Direct?

If you have purchased a Player Direct account for this season, you will be able to access the tools through July 31, 2012. With your subscription, you will have access to Hudl's recruiting tools when they launch this fall.

What if I haven't renewed any of my contracts with DSV for this year?

You're totally free to do as you please. You can continue using a past version of DSV but if you need online access, you'll need to sign-up for Hudl or shop for an alternative product. If you do choose to use Hudl, you can easily import your video and data from DSV to Hudl's online tools.

Over the next few weeks, I'll be working with the Hudl team to reach out to you. Hudl has set up a "DSV Transition Helpline", and a member of their team will be available to answer any questions you have from 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday-Friday. I encourage you to call them - (402) 937-9657.
It has been a pleasure working with each of you over the past few years, and I'm excited to continue to work together in my role with Hudl.

Chris Griffin -
